Our Courses and Workshops

We offer a variety of ways of learning the Alexander Technique, with a programme of activities throughout the year. From a course of Individual Sessions  to  One-Off Weekend Workshops,  Evening Courses, specialist courses such as Cycling and Alexander Technique and Voice and Alexander Technique, the choice is yours. We can also design a course or workshop for your workplace or organisation, delivered by teachers experienced in presenting in corporate and other settings (e.g. Alexander Technique for people living with Parkinson’s, health sector premises like hospitals).

Finding out if the Alexander Technique is the appropriate discipline for you is important. You may have already read or heard enough about it to know that you want to start straight away with a course of individual lessons. You may have even chosen one of our teachers on the strength of their profile or their testimonials . If on the other hand, you have little information but have heard enough to make you want to find out more, then joining one of our evening courses or attending a one-off workshop is the answer.

As Alexander Teachers, we are trained to work with any person from any walk of life and to guide them through the learning process whatever their individual needs may be. However, teachers often have particular interest, or previous professional background which affords them a specific expertise in that field. Such is the case with our expert teachers in voice, cycling, swimming instrument playing, dancing, acting, work wellbeing etc.

Choosing The Right Course For You

You may already know that want to dive into individual lessons, or you might be exploring the technique for the first time and prefer to start with a group session, introductory course, or workshop. The diversity of formats allows you to pick an option that best suits your needs, whether you’re looking for a deeper dive or just want to try the technique in a more accessible setting.

Teacher Expertise

While all Alexander Technique teachers are trained to work with anyone, many have additional expertise in specific fields such as:

  • Voice (ideal for singers, speakers, and actors)
  • Cycling (for improved posture and technique)
  • Swimming (helping swimmers optimize their movements)
  • Instrument Playing (for musicians dealing with tension or posture issues)
  • Dance (for improving fluidity and performance)
  • Workplace Wellbeing (addressing stress, posture, and movement issues in professional settings

Next Steps

If you’re unsure whether the Alexander Technique is right for you, consider starting with a shorter commitment like a one-off workshop or an evening course. This allows you to explore the technique before committing to a series of individual lessons. If you’re already convinced, you can start right away with one-to-one lessons, choosing a teacher whose profile resonates with you.

If you have a specific area of interest or need (like workplace wellbeing or voice), finding a teacher with relevant experience could enhance your learning process. Teachers often tailor their approach based on their professional background, so you can benefit from their additional expertise.
